New to Psychic Fairs? Here’s What to Expect (and Why to Go)**

If you’ve never been to a psychic fair, it can feel a little mysterious -- or even intimidating. There are so many reasons I enjoy attending my local fairs, I couldn’t fit them all here. 

So here are my top 3:

3 - Workshops Free workshops are included in the price of admission (at least at the fairs near me in KCMO). This is a great opportunity to learn from someone experienced in their field. Many times it will be a broad overview of a particular subject. It’s a great way to explore something new and see what sparks your interest.

2 - Vibe The friendly, open, and accepting vibe. Whether you’re bumping into another attendee or talking with one of the vendors, people are open, welcoming, and accepting of all walks of life. Experiencing a welcoming atmosphere like that is definitely worth a visit.

1 - Vendors My number one reason for attending a local psychic fair is that there are so many different vendors all under one roof – there’s truly something for everyone. Plus they're all small business owners so by supporting them, you're supporting local! It’s especially wonderful for people who are just starting to explore all the “woo”. From tarot readers to numerologists, from crystal healings to plant medicines, it’s all there. Whether you’re interested in a reading, a healing, or a new bauble, you’ll find it there.

Having said that, here are 2 pieces of advice:

1 - Even if you have an idea of what you’re looking for, I highly recommend walking through the entire space before making your decision. It’s what my mom and I lovingly call “taking a lap”. Even after attending these fairs for years – often seeing the same vendors – we still take a lap around the conference hall before making a purchase. Staying open allows your intuitive self to guide you to what you really need (which isn’t always what you think you want!).

2 - There are many different levels of energy at these events, and it can be overwhelming. So remember to take care of yourself – emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually. Sensitives can often pick up on the emotions of others (walking past someone who is receiving a heartfelt message from the other side could bring tears to your eyes). It can also get loud. If you are easily overwhelmed by external noise, bring your noise cancelling headphones. No matter what season the weather is outside, the temperatures inside can fluctuate from the frigid to the sweltering - so dress in layers. Remember to hydrate. Lastly, it’s always a good idea to consider a simple protection ritual before entering the building; just to make sure you don’t pick up on anybody else’s gunk.

Perhaps the best thing I can say about my local psychic fair is that I wouldn’t be who I am today without it: 

• I met my Reiki Master Teacher at a psychic fair.

• I was introduced to my shamanic mentor at a psychic fair.

• I was encouraged, loved, and supported to create this business by friends I met at a psychic fair.

• I became a vendor and shared Crystal Reiki Healing at a psychic fair.
